16a was commissioned to lead the redesign and re-choreography of a unique rural site on the outskirts of ormskirk, set within a working farm. the brief was to sensitively reimagine the landscape for a luxury lifestyle development inspired by the relaxed elegance of soho house. at its centre, the existing farmhouse is being transformed into a refined yet understated home — the anchor for a wider retreat experience.

taking a holistic approach to both architecture and landscape, 16a introduced a series of glamping lodges and retreat spaces that sit quietly within the terrain. the ambition was to create an elevated rural experience — a place that balances design-led comfort and privacy with the authenticity of its countryside setting.

each element was conceived as part of a wider choreography, with pathways, viewpoints and shared spaces thoughtfully arranged to connect guests with nature and one another. sustainability, natural materials and respect for the site’s agricultural heritage underpin every decision, shaping a retreat that feels effortless, tactile and deeply connected to place.

the result is a curated escape that captures the spirit of contemporary rural living — relaxed, grounded and distinctly lancashire.
